Height-weight norms for boys and girls are presented here to meet a need long felt by many pediatricians, who have found most charts of growth norms for children up to 5 years of age unsatisfactory on two counts. In the first place, norms such as those of Woodbury¹ and of Baldwin and Wood² have appeared to be too low for children reared with optimal (or at least above the average for the population) pediatric and home care. In the second place, for such children there has been lacking an adequate set of norms of weights for varying heights at given months of age through the first 5 years of life.
