An excellent textbook and reference book has been provided by Drs. Griffith and Mitchell in the second edition of "The Diseases of Infants and Children." A full bibliography at the end of each chapter facilitates the finding of material which will give a fuller treatment of the subject than can be presented in one volume.

The text itself is clear and concise but not didactic. The illustrations are good, definitely adding to the value of the work. The chapters on endocrine disturbance and therapy show a clear insight into this field and probably as a consequence are characterized by greater conservatism than many other works on the subject.
