A careful search of the literature¹ failed to reveal a case in which skeletal traction had been used in the treatment and the correction of micrognathy with cleft palate, and because of the successful result in this case, it is perhaps worthy of report. As marked dyspnea, difficulty in swallowing and inability to nurse were all present, I was unable to accomplish anything with the lip-guard nipple apparatus suggested by Dunn and Davis,^1e nor was I able to keep the mandible forward sufficiently to relieve the symptoms by bringing a brace up behind the mandibles, as suggested by Eley and Farber.^1d
