There are four parts to this volume, the first entitled "Our Newborns" (covering events from conception through early infancy); the second, "Our Infants"; the third, "Our Children," and the fourth, "Our Adolescents." Individual chapters under each part deal under varying titles with growth (physical and mental), the physician's evaluation, feeding, training, behavior and the prevention of disturbances.

The book is well printed and edited and, on the whole, well written, many subjects being exceedingly well presented, but the text is at times lengthy and repetitive. The directions for proper care are given in great detail, but the author fails to distinguish between essentials and nonessentials. The routine suggested often seems unnecessarily complicated, time-consuming and expensive. Few mothers could follow it explicitly, and the selection of the items which must not be neglected would be most difficult.
