Tuberculosis of the adrenal glands is one of the very unusual conditions encountered in medical practice. The following statistical data will serve to emphasize this fact. Of 696,789 patients admitted to the Mayo Clinic¹ from 1908 to 1929, only 108 suffered from this condition. During 1926, 391 deaths occurred throughout the United States from Addison's disease, or 1 case for every 250,000 of the population. Guttman's² findings on the incidence of this disease in Minnesota for the year 1924 closely approximate these figures.

During childhood tuberculosis of the adrenals may be regarded as distinctly rare. Monti³ found among 200 cases of Addison's disease only 6 in children under the age of 13 years. Greenhow's⁴ figures show only 4 of 330 cases to have occurred during childhood, or a ratio of 1 to 62. Guttman² estimated that about 3.45 per cent of all cases are encountered . . .
