A large part of the field of pediatrics is presented in this book briefly. The arrangement and presentation of the topics are such that the book could be used in a course of introductory pediatrics for student nurses or medical students who have had no previous experience or study in this department.

The modern pediatric point of view is maintained throughout. The subject matter does not encroach on the field of internal medicine, but is limited to problems encountered exclusively in pediatrics. The material is covered in a concise and elementary manner.

The first chapter (five pages) deals with the growth and development of the infant. The second chapter (fifteen pages) is devoted to physiology. In the third chapter (five pages) the hygiene and care of infants are discussed.
