Kehrer's monograph on injuries to the arm in new-born infants as a result of trauma at birth is an excellent reference book for the pediatrician and obstetrician. In it is clearly presented the anatomic and physiologic background of these conditions, knowledge of which is essential for accuracy in exact localization of lesions by physical examination. A drawing shows dissection of the nerves of the neck and arm which are especially vulnerable to trauma at birth; a chart shows each nerve, the muscle it innervates and the function of that muscle. Copies of these might well be in every pediatrician's notebook.
