Photochemical immunization is the name chosen by Peskind to designate the procedure in which foci of infection are irradiated with ultraviolet light. It is claimed that this method is really a form of specific autogenous vaccination, since irradiation of a focus of infection causes the release of antigen from the focus, producing local as well as systemic immunity.
