This book covers the usually discussed phases of normal mental development in children. More than most books it attempts to combine physiologic psychology with every-day problems. There are chapters on learning, attention, perception and thought on the one hand, and a consideration of infant response, social behavior and personality on the other. Countless illustrations of every-day problems met with in children make the reading of the report interesting. A discussion of each subject includes a review of the literature followed by the author's point of view.

As a whole, the discussions are academic in character. The point of view is of the physiologic psychologist or educator. Psychiatric views and problems are not included.
