This book contains general observations on the sputum—macroscopic examination and chemical examination. The microscopic examination details the Ziehl-Neelsen stain, Smith's gram-eosin stain, with the various organisms found in it, and the Fontanna stain for spirochetes. The final section discusses the character and clinical significance of the sputum in some of the more common diseases of the bronchi and lungs. The book is well printed, and the plates and figures are excellent. The subject matter is discussed in a concise and readable manner.
