The first volume of this exhaustive work on tuberculosis in childhood consisted of 886 pages, and the present volume comprises more than 700. Following a well organized comprehensive plan, the various articles have been written by different authors, and as might have been expected, certain portions of the book far outshadow others. Despite this lack of uniformity and the conflict of opinion which appears from time to time, the main purpose of the editors in thus dividing the responsibility for the handling of an immense amount of material seems to have been accomplished. There is a liveness and vigor to the text which is as refreshing as it is unexpected, and places this work on a high plane of medical literary achievement.
