This book constitutes volume 26 of "Abhandlungen aus der Kinderheilkunde und Ihren Grenzgebieten." It is in the form of twelve lectures to which are appended a list of prescriptions designed for use by the general practitioner. Beginning with the description of the instruments used for otoscopic examination, the anatomy, function of the ear, functional testing of hearing and diseases of the external ear are discussed. Then follow descriptions of catarrhal diseases of the middle ear, otosclerosis and chronic otitis media. Tuberculosis and syphilis of the ear together with lateral sinus thrombosis and intracranial complications are discussed. In conclusion, traumatisms of the ear are considered.
