While the Kahn reaction has been extensively studied in adults with syphilis, it has not been investigated on a large scale in children. There are several reasons why the reaction should be especially studied in this group of cases. Many infectious diseases are most common in childhood. An opportunity was afforded in the department of pediatrics and infectious diseases to study the specificity and sensitivity of the Kahn reaction. It was desired to determine to what extent the various clinical conditions found in juvenile medical practice will affect the specificity of this reaction.
