The third edition of this standard work has been carefully revised and well written. The original form and order of presentation have been largely retained, and many of the recent significant advances in clinical physiology have been included.

This book deals with those changes in function that are presented by patients suffering from internal diseases. It is an attempt to combine the science of medicine with the art of medicine. By this method the reader finds physiology, pathology and symptoms, all explaining the existing clinical conditions.

The same criticism may be applied to this book that is true of all others of this type. The subject matter in general is too detailed for the general reader, while for reference to any particular subject, it is too brief.
