One hundred fifty-five cases of mongolian idiocy have been observed at the Mayo Clinic in the last few years, but the case reported here is the only one of the series in which there were typical and unmistakable Hutchinson's teeth. The typical Hutchinson's incisor generally has been considered as pathognomonic of congenital syphilis. However, in this child no other stigmas of syphilis were present, and the blood Wassermann reaction was negative.

REPORT OF CASE

History.

—A girl, aged 8 years, was brought to the Clinic March 23, 1924, because of mental backwardness. Her mother, aged 37, and her father, aged 42, were both healthy and normal mentally. The child was the youngest of three children, the other two being alive and well. She was a full-term infant and delivery was spontaneous. Her weight at birth was estimated to be 6.75 pounds (3 kg.).
