A completeand detailed account of the symptoms and treatment of whooping cough based on a large hospital experience in Vienna. After a long introduction he takes up the question of the pertussis lung. Characteristic of this are areas of bronchial breathing which change their location from day to day. This leads to many complications. In relation to tuberculosis as a complicating factor, the author states that in many thousands of necropsies on whooping cough cases, he is convinced that tuberculosis is proportionately very little influenced by whooping cough, and there are an extremely small number of florid processes in his experience. In other words, where pertussis complicates tuberculosis, the resulting death is from the pertussis and not from the tuberculosis. Also, where pertussis, measles and influenza are grouped together, the result does not seem to be materially influenced by measles, but measles seem to act as a connecting link to . . .
