We were very pleased to see the article "Medical Informatics and Pediatrics: Decision-Support System" in the December 1995 issue.¹ The ARCHIVES is taking the lead in providing a series of academic articles on informatics topics for the pediatrician. No one has done this before, and we want to comment on the value of such a series to encourage further publication of such articles.

There are many reviews of informatics topics in the literature, but none of them is targeted at pediatricians. To successfully target an article to be of value to pediatricians, as Drs Johnson and Feldman¹ have done, one must add information not found in general articles. For example, in Table 3 of their article, the authors include information on whether each decision-support system includes the pediatric age range.
