Dr Roberts, who was a year ahead of me during our residencies, continues his lead. Depersonalizing phrases are inappropriate for any physician and especially for pediatricians. All of us who have cared for children know that they are wonderful human beings who happen to have illnesses or diseases. Unfortunately, in our attempt to be concise, we sometimes forget that certain jargon does not describe our true meaning. Please accept my apologies.
I shall indeed attempt to nurture the heart and brains of our readers (and I'll do it without having subspecialty boards in cardiology or neurology).
