IT IS VERY DIFFICULT to get into the mood to write a December editorial as I sit here on a hot (90°F) September afternoon contemplating the news from the past several days. I want to write about Tiny Tim, goodwill, and generosity. Unfortunately, current news involves mostly Scrooge news with very little goodwill or generosity but a lot of greed. I have come to realize that greed is incredibly powerful. In fact, greed is more powerful than two world wars, a national financial depression, and an earthquake disaster of monumental proportions. None of these could prevent baseball's World Series from being played, but greed has done it. The new baseball anthem seems to be "Take Me Out of the Ball Game."
