Sir.—Kooh and Binet¹ recently presented three case reports suggesting that so-called transient congenital hypoparathyroidism (TCH) can lead years later to persistent hypoparathyroidism. The authors also refer to an earlier report by Bainbridge et al² demonstrating reduced parathyroid response to ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid infusion after TCH. Because of the overall sparsity of evidence, it is noteworthy that Lerman-Sagie et al³ previously reported a similar case of transient congenital hypoparathyroidism with persistent hypoparathyroidism developing spontaneously 9 years after the initial diagnosis, suggesting a link between TCH and subsequent persistent hypoparathyroidism. . . .
