Sir.—Isolated daytime enuresis is an uncommon problem for primary school children, with a prevalence of only 1.8%.1 I have recently seen three related boys, ages 3 years, 5 years, and 7 years, who developed enuresis after receiving the Nintendo (Nintendo of America Inc, Redmond, Wash) arcade game. These boys lacked the known risk factors for enuresis, such as delayed maturation, low birth weights, and family stress. In each case, the child was fascinated by the Mario Brothers game, and apparently ignored his urge to micturate.
Anecdotal reports suggest that some of their peers have had similar episodes of enuresis. No formal examination was performed because the problem resolved after 1 to 2 weeks when the children learned to use the pause button. Since operant conditioning approaches, such as "the dry bed method," are effective therapy for enuresis, the Nintendo company may find a market for a wet sensor
