In Reply.—Drs Lewis and Kappelman describe a fine method for using the ITE of the ABP to improve the quality of their educational program and to assist residents in developing their cognitive capabilities. It was the hope of those responsible for the development of this task that such activities would occur. I know that the ABP is regularly reevaluating its various examination services and suggest that Robert Brownlee, Executive Secretary of the ABP, or Diane Butzin, Director of Evaluation and Research, be asked to respond to this letter.

Finally, if others responsible for the education of pediatric house staff have developed other approaches to evaluating cognitive capabilities, I hope they will share their methods with the AJDC. . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
