In Reply.—I cannot concur more strongly that sexual abuse must be considered in all children with herpetic vulvovaginitis. In fact, as Dr Hibbard has accurately quoted, "Child abuse should be considered in these patients."1 As we all know, child abuse (and neglect) are not limited to physical abuse; other forms such as sexual and emotional abuse occur with disturbing frequency. For economy of space, all subclassifications of child abuse were not enumerated in the brief denouement. It was hoped that all readers would have realized that sexual abuse, a subset of child abuse, was being highlighted. (Incidentally, there was no evidence of physical trauma.) . . .
