Sir.—Fujita et al1 stated in their article in the February 1983 issue of AJDC that Hemophilis influenzae and Staphylococcus pneumoniae have consistently been reported as important causes of otitis media in children during this decade in the United States and Scandinavia, and also in Japan according to their study and that of Takayana.2

These findings have been also encountered in Colombia: we recently published3 our observations of myringotomy in 60 children with acute otitis media. We isolated H influenzae in 29.9% and S pneumoniae in 24.9% of our patients. . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
