In Reply.—I should know better than to comment on any aspect of Haemophilus influenzae when there are readers who are as careful as you are. You are correct; I was in error. There is a tendency toward a greater rate of resistance among nontype b isolates of H influenzae if one considers both the non-B and nontypeables. In fact, Long and her colleagues comment specifically on this point: "Our data suggest a tendency for less antibiotic resistance among serotypeable vs non-serotypeable isolates....
