Theophylline Dosage in The Harriet Lane Handbook

Sir.—The second printing of the tenth edition of The Harriet Lane Handbook has a serious typographical error for the infant dosage of theophylline on page 186. Please note that the infant dose for ages 6 to 52 weeks should be "mg/kg/24 hrs equals 0.2xage in weeks+5.0" (not 50).

Given the frequency with which this medication is prescribed and the potential toxicity of overdose, it is important to be aware of this correction.
