This book is a collection of papers presented at the 1974 Birth Defects Conference sponsored by the Harbor General Hospital Campus of the University of California at Los Angeles School of Medicine and the National Foundation-March of Dimes. (Since this is a volume in the National Foundation's Birth Defects: Original Article Series, one is likely to find it in the periodical section of many medical libraries.) Most of the papers are reports of one or more cases, some with recently described syndromes, some with unusual combinations of phenotypic abnormalities or with unique chromosomal abnormalities, and some with previously described but rare syndromes. Somewhat more than half of the volume is devoted to papers on malformation syndromes (23 reports), while the rest is devoted to chromosomal syndromes (15 papers) and other papers. Discussions by the authors are usually rather short, presumably because of the limited time for presentation at the conference;
