This book is essentially the second edition of Neurology of Infancy. The title has been changed to reflect the increased scope of the book which now includes the entire preschool age. The first chapter deals with the developmental anatomy and physiology of the central nervous systen (CNS) from birth to 6 years of age. The author outlines the expected findings at 11 different periods, from neonatal to 6 years of age. The gross characteristics of the brain, the histological features of the CNS, the neurophysiological aspects of development, and electroencephalography are discussed for each age. A wealth of material is presented and reflects the authors special interest and knowledge in the developing nervous system.
In the preface, the author states that greater emphasis is given to metabolic disorders, epilepsy, and other topics of current interest in pediatric neurology, and there is a good survey of these topics. Many of the
