This is a marvelous bookeloquent, insightful, and inspiring. Based on his extensive experience and research as Psychiatrist-in-Chief at Children's Hospital Boston, the author shares what he and his colleagues have learned about strengthening families and protecting children when a parent is depressed. The use of illustrative clinical vignettes accompanied by explanatory commentaries will be highly useful to pediatricians and others interested in augmenting their competencies in caring for children and other family members when a parent is depressed. The pediatrician will also find much that is readily applicable to families with a parent who has some other chronic disability.
