The search continues for the perfect breastfeeding video for families
in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). "A Premie Needs His Mother" by Dr
Morton of Stanford University (Stanford, Calif) comes very close. This hour-long
video is divided into sections. "The Benefits of Breastfeeding" and "How to
Pump Your Breasts" are meant to be viewed during pregnancy. "Learning to Breastfeed
and Coming Home" is designed to be watched "as soon as the baby is strong
enough to be held in the parents' arms." The topics are current, the information
is accurate, the section on "kangaroo care" is fascinating, and the practical
tips on how to express milk are clever and useful. Some weaknesses of the
video are that it includes few culturally diverse families, its tone and language
are sometimes better suited to health care professionals, and there are a
