This is the companion atlas to Hobbs, Hanks, and Wynne's text, Child Abuse and Neglect: A Clinician's Handbook, 2nd ed
(London, England: Churchill Livingstone; 1999). That text is abundantly referenced,
but it fails to adequately integrate the current world's literature on normal
variation of childhood anatomy and injury. However, because the atlas is a
separate volume and its connection with the text is not mentioned until its
back cover, the atlas may be used, de facto, in isolation. The current atlas
is divided into topic chapters, such as "Contact Burns" or "Genital Findings
in Sexually Abused Girls." These chapters are headed by brief summaries of
normal and inflicted injury characteristics. Each introductory summary is
followed by captioned photographic examples. A few of the opinions are referenced,
but the introductory comments and the body of the text cry out for citations
