This book, written by recognized international experts in the field, covers a wide range of important topics in pediatric pulmonary medicine. The challenge for the editors was to appropriately balance both basic and clinical aspects of this heterogeneous group of pulmonary diseases and, also, to appeal to a broad audience of both scientists and clinicians. Building on the contributions of 128 authors, they have done an excellent job of assembling a book with a uniform writing style and approach.
The book is divided into 81 chapters in 14 parts, which cover general categories such as applied physiology, clinical assessment, and therapeutic principles. I found several interesting and unique chapters within each part. The discussions on response to high altitude and home care issues are especially informative.
