This is a large, 574-page paperback book. It is too big to carry around, but it should find a comfortable spot on the bookshelf of anyone practicing pediatric medicine. It is a perfect present for someone beginning clinical rotations in medical school or starting a pediatric residency. The second edition has been reorganized and expanded, but it continues to provide valuable information that is practical and not readily available elsewhere. This is the kind of information that an experienced physician "just knows," but doesn't remember where to find. As the introduction to the first edition states, this information is part of the extensive oral tradition of medicine.
