In its second edition, this book provides a comprehensive overview of skin diseases in childhood, including basic science, clinical presentations, pathophysiological characteristics, and diagnosis and treatment of the entire spectrum of dermatologic diseases that may be present in newborns, children, and adolescents. It is a multiauthor text with more than 60 contributors who have coordinated their contributions to make this a readable book.

These volumes have 6 sections. The first 2 include the development, structure, and function of the skin; principles of prenatal and postnatal diagnosis; treatment of skin diseases, including medical and surgical approaches; the effect of skin disease on psychosocial development; and neonatal and inherited skin disorders. The other 4 sections include diseases of mucous membranes and appendageal structures, reaction patterns, neoplasms and systemic diseases, infections and infestations, and injuries.
