A New Fiberoptic Guide for Endotracheal Intubation

Oded Preis, MD

Am J Dis Child. 1984;138(9):861-862.

Abstract

• An improved method for placement of endotracheal tubes was investigated. A fiberoptic guide is used that transilluminates from within the tube's lumen, permitting one to relate the tube's position to skeletal landmarks. The procedure is safe and was 100% successful in 20 infants in whom the instrument was tried.
