Controlled Comparative Study of Twice-Daily vs Thrice-Daily Dose Schedule

Abstract
• Cefaclor, a new orally administered cephalosporin, was used in a dose of 40 mg/kg/day for the treatment of acute otitis media in 60 children. The effectiveness and safety of this dose in a twice-daily vs thrice-daily regimen were compared. There were no differences in the clinical response between the two treatment groups. The drug was well tolerated by all patients, and no major clinical or laboratory toxic effects were observed. The twice-daily regimen did not improve compliance.
