Group B Streptococcal Septicemia and Delayed-Onset Diaphragmatic Hernia

A New Clinical Association

Mary Catherine Harris, MD; William B. Moskowitz, MD; William D. Engle, MD; Henrietta Rosenberg, MD; John Templeton, MD; Savitri Kumar, MD

Am J Dis Child. 1981;135(8):723-725.

Abstract

• An infant with group B streptococcal septicemia had a course that was prolonged due to the occurrence of delayed-onset congenital diaphragmatic hernia. Thirteen comparable cases were identified. Since group B streptococcal sepsis and diaphragmatic hernia on the right are both infrequent events, their association may constitute a significant clinical entity.
