Abstract
A 4 -month-old child with respiratory symptoms since 2 weeks of age had histological findings of desquamative interstitial pneumonia. Despite steroid therapy the child became progressively worse and died from cor pulmonale. She represents one of the youngest reported patients with this disease and is the first child recognized to die from it. It is suggested that immunosuppressive therapy should be used if steroid treatment fails.
