Abstract
A child with visceral larva migrans (VLM) syndrome had severe pneumonitis leading to respiratory arrest. A dramatic response followed the institution of corticosteroid therapy and mechanical ventilation. Since corticosteroids may be lifesaving, their use early in the treatment of VLM syndrome with severe respiratory involvement should be considered.
