Robert J. Lerer, MD
Am J Dis Child. 1972;124(3):436-437.
Abstract
A 15-year-old girl with systemic lupus erythematosus initially had massive pericardial effusion and cardiac tamponade. Pericardiocentesis was used to relieve her short-term symptoms. Systemic treatment with corticosteroids followed, and the patient has been symptom-free for six months.
